The first Formula 1 engine developed by Judd, the CV, was built on the formula of the 3.5 liter engine for naturally aspirated engines. The engine shared many design features with the Judd BV engine, but was extended to 3.5 litres.

During the 1988 season, the 600 PS (447 kW; 608 hp) Judd V8 was generally the fastest of the non-turbo engines.

The Judd CV (1988-1990) is:
