Race Used Mg Gearbox Housing - Stewart Grand Prix SF4 / Jaguar Racing R1 - 1999/2000

From what’s known, Stewart Grand Prix was already making preparations for a 2000 car, presumably the SF4, before the team was rebranded. Some reports suggest that the proposed gearbox housing and other structural elements were already in the works under Stewart’s management. If Jaguar's R1 incorporated those elements, it would indicate that Jaguar Racing inherited part of the SF4’s design rather than starting entirely from scratch.

The mention of Jaguar chassis carrying Stewart identification plates is also interesting. It suggests that some early R1 monocoques or structural components may have been produced under Stewart's name before the full transition to Jaguar branding. That wouldn’t be too unusual, given how F1 teams often carry over work from a previous iteration—especially during an ownership change.
